Coughing & Vomiting - Kennel Cough?

Just this morning my boy Jordy started
coughing and the same time vommited a
little. He hasn't seemed to have lost
any energy, but it concerns me a little.
I was told that it could be kennel cough,
but was told by a fellow dog owner that her vet said that it wasn't serious when her dog contracted it and that the dog would be able to shake it off. I'm at this point assesing him how he would do for the day and go from there. It's been awhile since I've had a dog and am not quite sure about what dogs normally contract as far as viruses are concerned. Any suggestions and/or comments?

If indeed it is kennel cough your dog must
remain quiet in order to get over it. No running around playing with other dogs (it spreads very easy) etc. Also you need some amoxicillin or something for him also.
Get him checked out by the vet & the vet will
tell you what to do.
There have been other posts on kennel cough.
You can look up what was said previsoly about
it.

kennel cough is easily diagnosed by pushing your dogs throat, when the dogs coughs it is very likely to be kennel cough.

There is no link between throwing up and kennel cough.

August 17,99 CMWALSH posted in the vets corner "COUGHING".
Read that post.
I would take the dog to a vet to make sure it
HAS kennel cough. It could be something else.

Just an update on my boy Jordy, he's got kennel cough alright. Took him to the vet that same day. He received 3 shots and is now on medication, and is not allowed to run around the park with his friends for awhile.

Thanks for the replies Rottiholt and Anton, you guys were a great help. Now if I can only make him take his medication alot better. Oh, before I forget thanks for the second post Rottiholt on the past posts regarding kennel cough.

I am glad you took your dog to the vet! There
is always a chance it could be something else
even tho 99% of the time it is kennel cough.
Keeping him quiet will rush the healing
along alot faster.
I am GLAD you read the 2nd post! Good for you
Alot of people don't.
GOOD LUCK & let us know how he is doing.

really?
99% of the time these signs are diagnosed as kennel cough?
that seems strange to me. Are you sure?

I think what was meant was *more often than not*, *99% of the time* being an Americanism for that.
