Re: George Broke his Toe

It will heal on it's own. I'd be very careful with his weight, as extra weight aggrevates all joints. He should have ribs that you can feel without "pushing in" on the skin, a waist that can be viewed from above (narrowing between ribs and hips) and a distinct tuck-up in his underline just before his hind legs.

My bitch dislocated a toe, it's completely healed now and she's very active in agility. You're going to need to take it easy with him for about the next 6 weeks. No running off leash. Lots of controlled walks and if you can swim him somewhere, that would be wonderful.

George is 24" to the shoulder , he is a big male. His Father weighs in at 145 and his mom weighs in at 110...Both are show dogs....George is Not over weight the vet feels he's at good weight for his body size.....

Re: George Broke his Toe

Nice to know the toes heal on their own. It figures that nature designed them for that eventuality as it is something that could happen often.

My ant's neighbor has a 185lb king rottweiler but you can't see his ribs. He barks a lot and I'm worried that one day he jump over the 8 foot fence into my ant's yard and hurt himself in the process.

Re: George Broke his Toe

There is no such breed as a "King Rottweiler". I don't think you meant his name is "King"?

185 lbs is WAY out of standard! I wouldn't worry about this "moose" jumping a fence anytime soon.

And yes, broken toes heal on their own. In humans they sometimes tape it to the next toe for stability. I don't think they do this with dogs, however.
