Torn pad

4 month old tore pad on back left paw. I'm out of town until wednesday. What to do? Does the wife need to take her to the vet? or what is the proper home treatment.

Thanks

Re: Torn pad

Emmy has done this twice and both times we used Neosporin and then put a child's sock over it to keep her from licking it. We usually used vetwrap to keep the sock up and in a couple of days it would be healed to a point that she could have the sock off, etc. We have run this by our vet and he's agreed w/the treatment.

Re: Torn pad

Someone told me to use the liquid skin to help seal it.

For preventive maintence? We use pure Vitamin E and rub it into her pads to keep them from getting dry and cracked.

Re: Torn pad

I actually used super glue gel and that worked perfectly. She's only 5 months old so dry and cracked is not the issue. My wife brought her out rollerblading and pup scraped her pad some how. It's getting better and every other day or so the superglue wears off.
