Micro chipping question I'd decided to have my pup microchipped and was told that it was just like a simple vaccination. Today a Vet told me it's like a big horse needle and painful. Is that right? If it's so painful how come many of the Councils here have free days when you can have your dog microchipped. The Vet said they usually do it when the dog is desexed. But the other Vet said some time ago it could be done at any time. I don't fancy getting it done if it's painful. My pup is already desexed and so is my parents Border Collie. Has anyone had it done?

Hi Eliza My 3 dogs are all chipped.Don't get scared by the big needle just let your pup lean close to you and talk softly to distract him. It only takes a second. My rottie was chipped at 6mos(not neutered)he didn't even blink his eyes while the vet was injecting it.I pet and talk to him a lot then.

My secret is to take a big chunk of cooked chicken with me and as the vet prepares to inject the chip i stuff the chunk of chicken into their mouth but still hang on to it so they can just gnaw on it. They never notice ------------------ Diane Frontier Rottweilers & Shiba Inu www.frontierrots.com
