| Bump after injection - common? My 4 month old female developed a lump on her left hind leg. She just had her shots about 2 weeks ago, and I noticed the lump the day after she got them. The lump is exactly where she got one of her shots. it has been over 2 weeks now, and the lump is still there. Should I be worried? Is this normal? |

| It is quite common for a lump to appear following a shot especially a rabies shot as a reaction to the vaccine. They generally subside within a week or two. If you notice however that touching the site causes a great deal of discomfort, is warm to the touch, is getting larger, does not move easily under your fingers, or lasts for longer than a few more days, then a trip to the vet is in order. In the meantime soaking the site for 15-20 mins. 3-4 times per day with a mixture of warm/hot water (as warm as both you and your dog can tolerate) and epsom salts (1/3cup salts 2/3 cup water) may speed the process along. |
