| puppy chews her feet
This is my first experience with a puppy, and I'm wondering if it's normal puppy behavior for her to chew her feet? When she's laying down, she will often take her front or back paws and put them in her mouth and "mouth" them. I've trimmed her nails, checked for abrasions and or cuts on her feet and have found nothing. Any thoughts? |

| If the puppy is taking the whole paw and putting it in her mouth, and kind of gently biting, this is pretty normal. Sort of like when little babies stuff their hands in their mouths. http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif If you mean she is chewing on her feet, mostly with her front teeth, like they are itchy, it could be indicative of a food allergy. |

| Thanks for the information, it makes me feel a lot better. She just gently chews her feet, it's not like she's digging at them. |

| Mine do that too. Puppies like babies explore their world with their mouths. Unless it is a senario that she damages her paws I wouldnt worry about it. Trish http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif |
