I know I have read some post that people have said the cheaper food has caused them, since its only been 2 days I have mixed her old food with the new to prevent stomach upset so far so good in that dept.. just wondering about the eye boogies

Re: Eye Boogers and switching food??

I cook for Lola and she is on the best quality human food. She gets suplements and everything the vet has suggested. She still has a great many eye boogies. Even with fresh fruits and veggies she still gets them. Vet said it's not food related but more allergy related. He suggested no more stuffed toys, and to wipe her eyes with a soft washcloth and warm water. Since she has been playing lots in her pool, I noticed less EBs. Most likely they just washed off. The reason for the home cooking is severe bacterial over growth in belly. She may have no chemicals of any kind. Everything must be prepared fresh. If I don't follow her eating plan she gets really sick and needs meds.

awww poor Lola but home cooking is always best, Gypsy likes Watermelon, and apples she gets them now and then, I have never had a dog like that stuff, she does seem to like the canadae.

Re: Eye Boogers and switching food??

Many of the dogs I walk have gummy eyes and itchy legs at this time of year...For them I believe it is seasonal.
It will take about 2 large bags (or the weight of your dog)(on average) in food to see a complete change through diet, unless your dog is severely allergic or sensitive to an ingredient.

If the eye boogers aren't green, you can use regular saline eyedrops to soothe...if you suspect a bit of infection, I found Polysporin antibiotic eyedrops to be very helpful.

Re: Eye Boogers and switching food??

nope they are not green just white, so you walk dogs? I was thinking of doing some dog sitting work when school starts back up, and cat maybe coming to the owners house while they are at work and feed and water the dogs and play with them. if you could PM me and let me know how I could start something up. I thought about flyers and ads in the paper

And thanks for the advice on the eyes!
