Splinter in her ear

Yesterday i found a splinter in my girls ear. I didnt have clue how long it had been there i can only think that it was from earlier in the day when she turned into a tasmanian devil whilst out in the garden. I was stroking her head when she let out a cry when i touched her ear, after taking a closer look i saw a tiny splinter poking out. I managed to pull it out whilst holding her head between my knees with one hand over her mouth to prevent my face being removed. Shockingly, unlike my previous rott, she just stood there and let my help her. My last dog would have never even let me go anywear near him in that kind of situation so now i am chuffed to bits with her.
Anyway, i had a look a few minuites ago as i heard i cry a little whilst she was scratching, and where the splinter was there is now a small red lump. I am more than positive that i removed all of the splinter as i felt it all come out with my fingertips. So why is it inflamed? Is it from me pushing the splinter into her ear from me stroking her or could there be an infection?

Re: Splinter in her ear

Mix one teaspoon of peroxide with 1/2 cup water. Dab a cotten ball into the mix, ring it out and swab the inflamed area. Repeat every hour or so. Also neosporene which is a medicated cream can be applied to the area. If she is still in pain after a day of this, see or call vet. I hope she feels better.
