Dog Health Insurance

Hello everybody,

Does anyone know where I can find a good health insurance? I currently live in Virginia. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

VPI is a pet insurance company and I beleive you can get it anywhere. You can find them at petinsurance.com. I have a booklet at home right now that I picked up at my training facility (they keep free mags, booklets, ect. for us to take and look at). They have a couple differnt ways you can set it up. One only covers emergencies while another option covers flea control, vaccinations and various other things (even spay, neuter).

We researched it but found it easier to just keep a good relationship with the vet (who allows payments for emergencies) and a separate 'dog care credit card' to be used only for vet visits.

Also, since our dogs were older when we researched it there were too many 'ifs and buts' in regards to care coverage...for example, one of the dogs has the beginnings of arthritis, so any care in relation to that would not be covered since it is a pre-existing condition.

Plus, our vet still gives us the rescue discount...!

I have heard of alot of people having problems getting the Insurance to cover different things and/or taking their time at reimburstment. I have a saving account for my dogs to cover large medical bills. I figure that at least if I should never need it at least it's still my money.
