| Re: poisoned dog Soorry it came down to $$$. This is another pet peave of mine. Im angry that thier is no actual comprehensive Major medical insurance availble for our Dogs and cats. The current insurance that exists is just lame. I had come up with a brilliant solution to answear this horrid inequity. I live near Uof Penn Vet school. The school is world class and world expensive and the only game in town , if your pet becomes critally ill. When you go their for help the billl is usually through roof. Most people have to make awful decisions, with regard to treatment for their companion soulmates(commonly known as pets) My grand solution would work aproximately this way. A membership would be offered by the Major institution. For arguments sake $500 a year. When your pet would be brougt in , the evalution would be coverd by the $500.00 and the owner would pay 30% of the traditional bill. Obviously this is a thumbnail sketch of how this plan might work Again , Im so sorry for your terrible loss, Im sure you did all that was in your power to save RUsty. All my love ,prayers and support Barry |

| Re: poisoned dog some info from the vet...it could have been Leptospirosis that may have poisoned Rusty, and King ,as well...because King is older and was not autoimmune compromised, like Rusty was, it did not affect him, as much..this bacteria could be found in pond water...we have a pond, and Rusty loved the pond..a homemade pond, with a clay bottom, filled with well water!...still seems unrealistic, but possible...why do I persist?.seeking for the answers?..He's gone..Let him rest, yet , I can't!...God, he captured my heart, but I must let him go... |

| Re: poisoned dog Quote:
Fir bark (Abies) and perlite (noncrystalline silicate) dusts have been reported to cause pulmonary disease in humans. Guinea pigs were exposed to either fir bark or perlite dust in a special chamber. Severe pathologic changes occurred in the lungs, consisting of lymphoid aggregated and a perivascular inflammatory response. Both dusts caused similar changes although one was vegetable (fir bark) and the other mineral (perlite). Fir bark and perlite dust appeared to be more than just nuisance dusts. | Re: poisoned dog I am very sorry for your loss... like many mentionned above, is it possible that someone could have poisonned your dog? (A non rott loving neighbour maybe?) Did you ever tie your dog outside of stores/shops? There has been quite a few incidents as such in Montreal. |

| Re: poisoned dog First of all I should have said this before I'm sorry for your loss. We don't use bark dust at least not in the Phoenix area because it is also flammable and it is triple digits all summer long. But it is commonly used to decorate flower beds and gardens. It also looks like wood chips. I was at the vets when they brought a Lab in that was poisoned from eating the bark dust he was very ill but expected to make it. Unfortunately, without a necropsy you will never know if you can immediately eliminate the most common things like anti-freeze, household cleaners, various types of plants it is very hard to know without a doubt. |
