Re: sitting down

Sometimes they have what is considered a "lazy sit". But dogs who do not have HD can sit this way too.

Re: sitting down

I would be more concerned about movement and how they lay down and get up (again, in regard to movement) rather than how they sit. All but one of my Rotts has sat lazy and has had to be taught to 'up sit'. None of them have HD.

Re: sitting down

Nope, Tank has bad HD and even before his corrective surgery he sat just fine. Has a beautiful sit. However, watch him lay down when he's on his own time (that is not told to "down") and that's when you'll notice he does it his own way....he goes down elbow first.

Re: sitting down

yes..I agree...chucky ( my rottie) also never lay down with "frog" position..both of his back legs always stay close together on either left/right side..* sigh ( he`s got medium HD) thanks for your information..

Re: sitting down

Samson has mild HD and arthritis. He sits beautifully...but its definitely noticeable when he lays down and gets up. The force is put on the front both ways as his HD is in the rear right leg.

Re: sitting down

I definitely see something different when Makita "gets up" from laying down. Its more of a pushing her self up, using the back part of her body. Kind of a shuffling motion.
