white spots, nose and gums changing colors ????

I have a male rottie that is 6 1/2 years old. A week or so ago, I noticed a strip of white hair on his back left leg that just appeared out of nowhere. It wasn't a cut or scrape that healed and came back white. About the same time that this happened, I notice every morning that his eyes were crusty and running. I also noticed that his nose seemed to be really grey looking and his mouth had had turned pink looking where it had been black before. I took him to the vet and he gave me something for his eyes, but said that the other things I mentioned were probably just a sign of aging. I thought this seemed weird, because it happened over just 2 or three days time. Since then, he has streaks of white hair on his side, around his eyes on his other rear leg etc. He doesn't seem to feel bad, but he looks like a different dog from just a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone heard of anything similiar to this?

Thanks
Jparish

Look up vitiligo. I don't know if this is what it is or not, but it sounds similar.
