Soft stools

I have been meaning to ask this for quite a while, and it is just out of curiousity really.

Nearly every weekend I take Teazle for a long walk (10 - 12 miles). I always give ger a little breakfast 1 - 2 hours before we start walking. The first crap of the day is fine, but I have noticed that later on she does pass motions again and although it is only a small amount, it is always much softer and yellow in colour. I know she hasn't eaten anything nasty and it happens on every walk, but only on these long ones when we are out for longer than a couple of hours. When we are home again, her next crap is fine.

Perhaps I am too obsessed but I just wondered why. It doesn't affect her in any way. Is it her breakfast that hasn't digested properly ?

Any ideas on this yucky subject would be interesting.

Thanks.

Re: Soft stools

I would like to know the reason for this also. My dog does the same thing.

Re: Soft stools

I posted a thread about this when Julius was a puppy. Everyone that I talked to said that it's completely normal.

Re: Soft stools

Bear gets loose stools the longer the walk is and the more exciting it is.He will sometimes try to poop about 5 times on a hike! Once we are home everything firms up again and he is fine. Our vet said it's nothing to worry about, but didn't really say what caused it. Our trainer said that it was probably because of the excitement and exercise. KInd of gets the "juices" flowing

Re: Soft stools

Those of us Humans who run long distance know this phenomenon as the "runners trots"...so I have never worried about it with Bear.
