Please help me with answers Is it true that Rotties, have problems with their eyes. We still having problems with Terra!!!! I posted a message a few weeks ago about Sabine getting Blastomycosis, we had to put her down. Then the mama Terra came down with whip worms, false pregnancy and then developed infection in her breast from the milk. Well anyway she has really went down hill !!!! Now she has went blind in her right eye, and it looks like she has Blastomycosis too. But her lymp nobes are not swollen, that is the only thing that is throwing the doctor off. He said that since she has been so sick that that, they can develop eye infections, like from the whip worms. But with her going blind like that, blasto is really the only thing that will make them go blind. We are trying antibiotic right now and trying to see if she comes out of this. But it has been a long month and half on us dealing with Sabine and her loss and now the mama has been sick now for 3 weeks. I am drawing for straws here I know, but with the lymp nobes not being swollen just maybe it is something else. I have heard that Rotties have problems with their eyes that it runs in Rotties, is this true. The Vet did not tell me this but, and I am sure he would have told me. But he knew Sabine passed away from the awful diease. We just want to keep her, we had 3 Rotties and in a month and a half we are going to be down to one. But I can't understand Sabine went down hill and never came back up but Terra everyday picks up, she will stand at the fence and look around at the neighbors and even bark and things, and be up growling and Brandy for getting near her food, and shanking her but. All of this everyday !!! but it only lasts for about a hour everyday, oh and she will come out of the garage and lay in the sun all day too. But at night she she starts feeling bad again. We have to beg her to eat and feed her pedilac with a seringe. Her eye is real mattery and is sky blue, we wipe the matter away and in seconds it comes back. We are putting meds in it. If anyone knows anything please let me know Pam

| Re: Please help me with answers The eye problems that most people refer to are heritable structural problems (lower eyelid too baggy, or turned inward and scratching the eye ball).

Re: Please help me with answers Most Rottweilers don't have eye problems. Some do have entropion or ectropion but good breeders do not breed with such dogs as it can be hereditary. My Rottweilers have no eye problems. If your dogs are constantly getting whipworms then what is your worming regime? Are you give them a worm preventative?

Re: Please help me with answers Never had eye problems, just knee and joint problems. My vet has my rott on Interceptor keep her from getting heartworms, hookworm, roundworms and whipworms. Just a thought if you have a problem with the worms.

Re: Please help me with answers Well the whip worm porblem is ok now, it was just the start of everything. She got the whip worms then we found the knots on her breast that let us know that she was going through false pregnancy which that might had been going on before the whip worms but we didn't know until we found the knots. Which the knots where real hard and have set up mastitus < I'm not sure if that spelled right, but it is a breast infection. She has about 4 knots on her breast 3 of them have opened up and are draining. You know alot of times when a dog is very sick some times they will get a little bit of matter eyes, I think that it is because they are so sick, and even the Vet thought that too, he said that especially when they get whip worms their eyes get matter. I just went out and checked on her and tried to get her to drink some more pedalic, I cleaned her eye up and it just looks more like infection than matter now, and it is swollen. I think I am going to call the Vet back and see if he has anything else that we can put in it. This is a tube of salve, and she is on antibiotics. I keep checking her lymp nobes and they are still not swollen which with Blastomycosis they have swollen lymp knobs. That is the only thing that is making us think that she does not have Blasto. If this eye would just get better I think that she would be ok!!! She get up and walks around and at times her sprit is good, cause she comes up to meet us wanting to be pet. And still growls at Bandy for getting near her food even if she is not going to eat it. Barks at the neighbors. No she dosn't run the fence like she use to and no she isn't herself. I just wish she would come out of all of this and get better. My daughter is away from home her and her husband are in NC, he is in the Marines. My daughter say's all the dogs are going to be gone before she can get back home. We had 3 Rotties and in a month and a half we are about to lose a second one, HOw can this happen????? Pam
