Re: Oh No....she ate a bottle cap!! How old is she? Does she chew these or do you think she swallowed it whole? So many variables here......I have a high energy lab female that does the same with bottle caps, but she chews them up, so they end up in her poop in the yard......a whole one could cause a blockage.....and the younger the dog, I would think that would be more likely to happen.....I'm sorry I'm no more help - you should run her in to your vet for a look see....

Re: Oh No....she ate a bottle cap!! A large dog should be able to pass a bottle cap...(one end or the other)but keep an eye on her.If your dog starts to vomit/can't keep food down/ shows signs of distress....then you need to see a Vet quickly.

Re: Oh No....she ate a bottle cap!! she is a high energy golden ret. She is into everything!!! About a week ago she ate a gogurt...plastic and all. That came up whole...and that was quite large. She is a big dog however still young. I am not sure if she chewed it up into pieces...she did chew on it but it all happened so fast. She seems fine...

Re: Oh No....she ate a bottle cap!! Since you don't know whether she's a Labrador or a Golden, but they are both large dogs, I guess that part doesn't matter. Was this a metal bottle cap, or plastic? She will show symptoms when it gets lodged somewhere along her gastrointestinal tract and blocks its function, if she hasn't passed it. You might see symptoms in a day, or in a few years, just depends on when it is that it moves into a position to block an area off. Dogs can actually have objects that are too large to pass and do not cause nausea (for some odd reason) sit in their stomach for weeks, months, or years before showing symptoms that they aren't feeling right. Sounds like you need to doggie proof the areas she's allowed access to, and keep a better eye on what she's getting into.

Re: Oh No....she ate a bottle cap!! When in doubt play it safe - a x-ray is normally an econominal way to be certain. Ck w/ your vet, mine chgs 30.00. I had 2 done on my 2y/o female when she was a pup. I want to know whats going on - not wait for distress symptoms. Plus, most vets carry the prescription canned food (approx 1.50 a can) that has a very sticky form to bond to forgien objects to help w/ passing. Keep us posted!
