| How to take temperature? Here on the farm I do a lot of thevet work on our cows. How do vet take temp or how do you guys take temp of your rottie? Is it anal? We have a thermomoter which we use for cows, if I srerilized I'm sure that I could use or I could buy one from the vet next time he's here. |

| Re: Heres kinda a stupid question. I personally haven't had to do it, but yes, anal, and my girl prefers to have it "warmed up" if the vet can, she was a tad jumpy when he put it in cold one time... I know there are some threads on this, as I'm not a expert on this subject. Also good idea to know what their normal temperature should be as well.

| Re: How to take temperature? The new digital ones work very well. Place some vaselone on the device and place it in the anus. It will beep when the temp has been in long enough. A normal temp is between 101-103.It's not hard to do!

| Re: How to take temperature? you can use a digital or a glass mercury one...just don't break it in there! place about 1 1/2-2 " in anus lubed with some ky jelly or sterile lubricant. digitals beep when ready.the other ones hold in place for about 1- 2 minutes. dog temp shoud be between 101-102.5 pregnant dogs and puppies temp can be a bit lower. about to whelp bitches can go down to 97-98 . over 103 is considered a fever. over 104 can be an emergency.
