Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

Ive notice just every now and then, she will vomit.. Nothing major. Trying to pinpoint it down to when and what she has eaten. I know all dogs get upset stomaches from time to time. Seems like she does it more, than any other dog I have had.

I feed her a dry food with lots of water. The occasional treat of american cheese and p/b.

Re: Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

Guerin is an urper. If he gets stressed he really urps. So we started on the advice of our vet giving him a Pepcid A/C in the AM. That has really helped.

Is she vomiting food, or just yellow bile??

Re: Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

I have nicknamed Duke "pukey dukey" cuz if he has anything other than his regular food he will throw it up. Vet checked him out..figures he just has a sensitive stomach. And thinking back to when he was a pup...I did have to try a variety of foods before he kept them down consistently.

Get vet to check...like the pepcid idea....and maybe try sticking to only his kibble and the odd homemade doggie treat.

Bear Barfs once in a while usually after he eats, I have guessed it's because he has eaten too fast because the kibble he barfs up doesn't even look chewed.

Re: Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

Lola threw up last night. It looked like maybe she ate too much of her puppy food.....along with some paper!! This is the first time i've seen her get sick. Last week she threw up in the living room, but we didn't see her do it. I have been watching her and I think it's because she eats her food fast and then goes and plays with her brother. I will ask her Dr at her appt on Monday. Hope your baby gets to feeling better!

Re: Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

yes, gunther vomits occasionally in the morning just after he wakes up. i think their digestive systems just allows them to vomit more easily -- ie if they eat too much or a new/unusual food item irritates them. i dont worry too much about it.

altho , you should check for blood or bits of undigested stuff (ie rawhides...), and if this is happening, get a vet checkup!

Sometimes if Java drinks too much water or gulps it too fast he will throw up some of it.

Re: Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

you can add Ralein to the list of occasional pukers. No real reaon for it most times, but I would say that it has only happened maby 4 times in the past 6-8 months. So I just chalk it up to her eating a bunch of hair while chewing a bone, or running too much right after eating or drinking a lot.
If it is more regular than that, I would talk to your vet, and take a closer look at the food and treats that you are feeing.
Another dog I had could eat ANYTHING under the sun, and never got sick, except for pretzles???

Re: Does your rotty vomit occasionally?

WOW, alot of chuckers in the group. I kinda chalked it up to her just eating to fast. Sometimes its just the yellow gunk, with no food. But mostly has some food in it.
