Limited activity after a spay

Elsa is scheduled to have her surgery on January 9th. Unfortunately her vet's office had to postpone us until then.

I received an email today from tan Obedience Club that we got into their training classes starting January 19th.

It seems to me that after 10days of recovery that would be enough, but what are your experiences/thoughts. The vet simply said no jumping and stay on a leash for 7 to 10 days.

Also she is having a laser surgery.

Thanks
Kim

Re: Limited activity after a spay

I think 10 days is plenty of time, especially since you're talking about an obedience class not agility or something higher impact . She'll be SO happy to get into class after a week or reduced activity too!

Oh, and my understanding is that with the lazer surgery they heel even quicker than normal, so I can't imagine her not being ready for classes.

Have fun!

Re: Limited activity after a spay

I had a foster spayed on December 30th. I leash walked her for potty separately from the other dogs, and other than that she was in her crate (with the door open) resting by herself.

She now goes out for potty with the rest of the dogs, off leash, and I think she nows her limitations while she heals - she does her business and comes back inside quickly...no real desire to play - yet, although I suspect that'll come soon!

I think 10 days is plenty of rest...

I used Arnica pre and post surgery for her and I think it has REALLY helped with healing.

Yep, I agree with the above.

I would not give arnica pre-surgery though. I would only give it post, and wait 24hrs to be sure there is no bleeding first.
