Question about Foods for IBD diet

I do the home cooked diet for IBD. Angel does not tolerate white rice. Right now, she gets pasty macaroni noodles, green beens, cottage cheese and eggs. She is a very very good eater...which I attribute some to the prednisone.. She is about 90 lbs and is a medium sized rottie...My concern is that she is going to become overweight by all the protein she is getting in her diet. I had started out giving her a 2/3 of meal being protein and 1/3 consisting of carb, so that she would start putting on weight ( at that time she had dropped down to 47.5 lbs and so I decided to try the home cooked meals). A year later, she has almost doubled in weight and is very healthy!!! However, now that she is at her ideal weight for size, what foods would you suggest to maintain her current weight, but decrease the chances of weight gain. I tried cutting out the cottage cheese (since she loves the eggs so much) and substituting cooked oatmeal instead...but she doesn't seem to find the oatmeal appetizing. ...even tried mixing in chicken broth for added favor..but no. I could just cut in out all together, but I don't want to deprive of meal quantity too..? Any suggestions? Should I try a different carb with the noodles...or just give alot more noodles...or maybe give the same amount of noodles with the green beans and eggs and just add another veggie for a filler?

Re: Question about Foods for IBD diet

Actually, it's the carbs that will make her gain weight quicker than the proteins. You could also try brown rice. Some dogs find that easier to digest.

If you have found a diet she does well on, DON'T change it! Do the obvious, feed her less.

It would be much, much wiser to feed her less of a diet she does well on than to feed her the same amount of a bunch of new foods that may trigger the "death spiral" all over again, don't you think? There's no reason to even consider doing that!
