| Total Hip Replacement Hi everyone. My female is going to be 8yo in June and has had HD since she was 4 mths. We swear by Adaquen as it was a mirical drug for probably 5 years, she did excellent on it. My problem now is she is in alot of pain (she wont tell you though, just wants love and to play) and I had the vet take new xrays yesterday and her hip (socket) is just gone. So I want to get her pain relief fast and I am considering Total Hip Replacement as long as our surgen says he can. Has anybody had this done to a mature adult rottie before and how did it work out? Would you recommend it at this age? What was the healing time? Thank you.

| Re: Total Hip Replacement I have not had it done on a dog this age but I would consider that she will have a much long(er) and more painful recovery than a young dog. Her recovery time could exceed 6 months. I think her health may deteriorate further and she may never make it back to a level of controlled comfort. Sorry you are going through this. |
