Seizure concern

Hello, New guy here, Last week my Rotty had a seizure, lasting about 2 minutes, within 10 minutes, he would obey commands, within 2 hours, he was completely normal. He is almost 5 yrs old, never had any medical issues, and no history in blood lines of seizures. When we got up the next morning, my wife noticed a grease spot in the kitchen, and about an hour before he had his seizure, I heard him licking the floor in the kitchen, but did not physically see him licking this spot, and, at work I had been walking in a grease/antifreeze soup, and forgot to take my boots off. Is this little amount enough to send a Rot into seizure? Also, since the seizure he has been fine, with the exception of his breathing/panting has increased. I took him to the vet and he said that alot of dogs he sees only have 1 seizure in there life, and for us to monitor.Thank you all so much and I look forward to your replies and to reading your stories.

we ask our clients to bring the dogs in as soon as possible after a seizure for a full physical exam, bloodwork, etc... so if this happens again (and i sure hope it doesn't!) please get him into your vet or emerg clinic asap afterwards

all the best with your boy

tierarztin has good advice.
if a dog gets into antifreeze, even a small amount can be fatal or cause severe kidney damage.if concerned, it would not be a bad idea to have him get bloodwork now to be sure kidneys and liver are ok.especially if you are noticing more panting or difference in behavior.
if it happens again, definitly get him completely worked up.

Thanks to all, this happened 5 days ago, and he seems completely normal now, both in diet and activity. Trust me, my stupidity of walking in my house with my workboots will not happen again! I am falling back on that this had something to do with his seizure. Thanks!
