| Bad Sprain or Bone Tumour Hi everyone, Ive just found this site after searching high and low for info..thankyou for having me.. Teeka is 10, and was diagnosed with arthritis at 2 years of age.. (I inherited her at that age) She has had Rimadyl, which was great, although she didnt have it constantly..usually winter time she would have problems...She has also had OsteoEze and the like over time. Last year, I took her to a vet because she was limping very badly on her front left leg (I think it was the left) who xrayed and said it could have been cancerous or arthritis...to give her Rimadyl, if there was improvement then its arthritis (I dont know why she couldnt tell me straight out) Anyway, the Rimadyl did help tremendously. This year, shes a lot more arthritic with the damp weather and age on top...so I have to have a vet come to the house to see her. She was given new medicine called 'Previcox'...omg amazing..she was like a puppy within 2 days! She had so much energy, very very slight limping now and then...but she was soooo happy. I had to work on Wednesday, 2 weeks ago...when I came home, she was limping so badly, actually holding her left paw up... We have kids that live just behind us who throw things at her and yell and scare her...my immediate thought was that she had been scared and came through the doorway, banging her paw...I also found some wire that was thrown over the fence. The vet came a week later, and strapped it..saying it looks like a sprain in her ankle? area, but mentioned the 'C' word... a week later...she is better, she can stand while it is wrapped but is still very very sore... She is going for xrays on Friday, if I can get her in the car. Sorry for the long post...Im upset that my furbaby is not well...and the thought that just maybe its more serious is something Im having trouble contending with.. She is clumsy, and constantly knocks her front poors coming through the doorway...she also has tendon damage on the same paw. Has anyone any advice? Teeka is happy otherwise...eating and drinking..being cheeky as best as she can. |

| well, it seems this girl has done very well for you for quite a decent life. You will simply have to wait and see, but do not look to the worst. One thing you can do for her is to keep her from the fence area where she is being abused and possibly injured. Either keep her out of the yard when you are not there to supervise, or get some weldwire fencing and run it down the yard in far enough that she will be kept back from that bad area. she deserves to be out without abuse.

| The trouble is...my yard isnt very big, about 15 footsteps to the fence. Teeka is an inside dog, but likes to sit in the garden, most times she ignores these idiots, but this day (and I can only guess) something was thrown at her..(a guess too, I found a length of wire on the grass 2 days later) and she came into the house in a rush..I leave the back door open for her whether Im home or not. Im hoping and praying it is still just a bad sprain...she can put her weight on it now, where she couldnt before... But then, I want to see the improvement... Thankyou *hugs* |

| There seems to have been so many of our fur babies leaving us lately, that Teeka has a CROWD waiting for her at the Bridge... all the "new kids on the block" looking for a good pain-free game of tag, with all that have gone before them there to watch and cheer them on! Fly high, Teeka.... watch over your Mom, will you???? ((((HUGS)))) to you, TeekasMum. You did the brave, loving thing, that is ever so painful even though it is right. I better stop typing, as I can no longer see the keys. I am so sad for you. |
