If you are feeding him more than he needs now that he is not in a growth spurt, it is completely normal. Cut the amount in half for now, put the bowl down, after 20 minutes pick it up and don't put it down again until the next meal time. He will learn to tuck into his dinner and finish it because it is not a smorgasboard or buffet.

Usually this kind of thing is more a problem for the owner, not the dog. :)

Tyson is kind of like this also, he only eats about half his food in the morning but will eat all of it at night quickly. Like Judi said leave it out for 20 min and not out all day.

Nappa, LISTEN to Judy! My Santo would pass up his food in hopes of something better. (my fault) I would add stuff to his food to make it appetizing, I changed his food, I RACKED MY BRAIN! The whole time I had my trainer and everyone telling me just what Judy told you, but I felt so bad to think he could be hungry and there be no food for him. Finally when MY way didn't work, I tried thiers...and guess what! It was almost 2 days before little S@@@ ate, but now when I feed him he eats, no treats until finished. (his treats are carrots) I don't worry about the food thing now he eats fine. Be sure not to give he treats in between, until he's finished. Good luck.

Too funny. It didn't occur that if the poor little thing was really hungry - he would eat! Boy I'll bet he was sad when you got smart.......

Good for you! I know how upsetting it can be when they won't eat. Don't give in eithier, as I write Santo is 19 mo's and when there is a bunch of people over (my family is always here on the wkends) he WON'T eat his food. Learned behavior, a few times they slipped him something, he now won't eat HIS food when everyone is over. I don't get upset I take it away and THREATEN eveyone not to give him anything, and when everyone leaves I put it down, guess what.....he eats. I do love how smart they are!
