Talking Vet referral Woodland Hills, CA

I need a referral today (Sunday) to a Rot Vet in the Woodland Hills, Ca general area, preferably one who is open on Sundays or has an emergency contact number. My Vet just moved out of the area and his referral Vet is M-F, 8-4 and no emergency contact number. Thank you...

My regular vet, who I can highly recommend, is Alex Stern, DVM. His office is located in Sylmar (about a 20 min drive from Woodland Hills) and IS open on Sunday 12pm-4pm for regular visits. Phone number is (818) 362-6599.

If that's too far, try Porter Pet Hospital on Parthenia in Northridge. I was just there with a new kitten and liked the vet and the staff. I don't know if they have an emergency # or if they are open Sundays, but the number is (818) 349-8387.

Dr. Stern also gave me their emergency vet referral when my dog was sick and that office is the Emergency Animal Clinic in Sherman Oaks (24 hour vet on premises). I did not need to go there, so have no experience with them, but I trust Dr. Stern's recommendation. The number is (818) 788-7860.

Do NOT go to McClave Vet Hospital in Reseda! I called to let them know I was bringing an emergency in, and when I got there, they never even came to the door - after 10 minutes of knocking, and then pounding on it. That's when Dr. Stern gave me his Sherman Oaks referral.

Moondog,

Thank you for taking the time...

I will call the Clinic in Sherman Oaks because she cannot use her tongue to swallow or drink or eat and I do not want her to become dehydrated.

You're very welcome! I hope your dog is okay! Here's the address for the Sherman Oaks office - 14302 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA - 2 blocks east of Van Nuys Blvd. Should only take about 10 minutes to get there.

Let us know how your dog is...

I ended up taking her to someone in Woodland Hills, my neighbor had come over during my emailing and had used them many times and was very pleased and it was 1/3 the distance to SO, corner of Winnetka and Ventura ... turns out her tongue was swollen from some irratation and as a result she could not use it to drink or swallow ... they are rehydrating her over night and gave her something to bring the swelling down, no temp and heart was fine. Every now and than you get lucky with a dog ... everyone referrs to her as the gentle giant, not an ounce of aggretion in her and smart as a wip. The Dr. couldn't believe how easly she let her (female Dr) open and examine her mouth.I'm going to find a local vet that is available, if even only by phone, 7 days a week.
Again, thank you for your time and response ... I really was at a loss and do not like to see someone without a referral.
