| Is colic common in dogs? I was in at the Vets yesterday, and there was the cutest little Staffy pup there and as I was talking to his owners they said that they lost a Rotti to Colic. I didn't think to ask how old it was. I knew about Colic in horses, but had never heard of it in dogs. What steps do you take to prevent it occuring? |

| Hmm......I've had horses most of my life and dealt with many cases of colic....but I have to admit, I've never heard of colic in dogs...I know, no help, but I'm curious to hear if anyone else has heard of this.

| Liza - I've never heard of that condition for dogs either. I see you're from the land Down Under Perhaps the term 'colic' is used to describe what we in the States call "Bloat" or "GVD" (gastric dilatation volvulus)??Just a wild guess... kathy |

| I'd never heard of it either, so I looked up the difference between bloat and colic in the dictionary and they don't see to me the same. I just don't know... |
