eye problem

I own a male 115 pound 14 month old rot named jason. About 3 or 4 months ago wile playing in the yard i noticed that the eye lid on the left eye on the bottom right corner was noticibly lower than the other eye lid . Also the white part of his eye that was exposed was swollen, the size of a grain of rice but about 2 or 3 times larger .

It dosent happen all the time. mostly when he does exercise but i have seen it happen wile jason is just laying down inside the house. So i had the vet look at it. It did not happen wile at the vet. I was told that he had some redness. They said the redness could be from alergies or a dog in heat and gave me drops. The drops got rid of redness but they said they could not find anything else wrong . That it could also be an eye alergie .

I dont know what to do next the redness is gone but he still gets the eyelid droping down on the inside corner . by the way the eye drops they gave him are neomycin, polymyxin b,dexamethasone

i looked up entropion online but really am not shure?

If you have access to one, try to take him to a vet opthamologist.

I've owned intact dogs for 30 years and this is the first time I've ever heard such a silly idea that bitches in season could cause eye problems or infections!!!! That is just plain rediculous. If your vet did indeed say such a thing I'd be looking elsewhere for care.

The drops he gave you contain two antibiotics (neomycin, polymyxin B) and a steroid (dexamethasone). I'd be willing to bet it was the steroid aspect of that the cleared the redness.

I agree with Judi, I'd go see a veterinary opthamologist, and yes, I'd question the specialst about entropion.
