| Hi all, Last weekend Chance started limping on his left front leg, Saturday morning (6-18) , about 10AM. I thought he sprained it and waited. I called the vet tuesday when no amount of rest seemed to help. I got a appt for Monday the 27th. Then came the 23rd and no limp, all seemed ok and he was back to normal. Whewww....now, just a lil bit ago today, I was looking at him and now once again, hes limping, but right front. my first thought was call the vet..and of course, they arent in for the rest of the day and wont be back till Monday. Im going to call and see if I can get my 11AM appt back....or any, for Monday. Second thought was lyme disease....Is there anything else that you all think it could be, other than this? Thanks!!! | Well I did go to the emergeny vet, cause I just couldnt sit here and wait. I cant say I was happy with the vet I got, but did have him run a lyme test and they say it came back negative. Of course while we went for a car ride, and at the vets. Chance only had a small limp left in the right front shoulder. The vet didnt even want to run a lyme test, but I wanted it. He kept saying he thought it could be wobblers, but wasnt sure....I thought rotts werent common for that?? He didnt answer why it was going from left front to right front shoulders. So...I walked out 155.00 poorer...10 days of 100mg deramaxx, and told to watch him. I will still be calling my vet early Monday to try to see him. This will continue to bug me until then, and I really hate to give Deramaxx!!!!!Soooo...any ideas??? Neg for lyme...so i was told I have NO answers to why this is going on. Helppppppppp before I go insane |

| Wobblers is unfortunately not uncommon in this breed. It's not as common as HD, but it's definitely present. How old is your boy? Any other signs of anything.....appetite? energy level? stiffness getting up?

| Chance is just 7, he was fine till this front leg trouble, I find it weird that it just moved from left front to right front in a week. His back legs are fine now, no problem there. As for appetite--No problem there what so ever energy level---Fine, but with hot days, I have been trying to limit him. stiffness--- No, all fine except for that brief part today, Which only lasted about 15 min at most. Is it possible that it could still by lyme and for some reason he still tested negative for it?? As for the Deramax he is suppose to take for 10days, I have read so many bad things about it, Im afraid to really use it, should I relax a lil and try the 10 day thing? I still feel I will call my regular vet that I adore on Monday. |

Ok, Im confused, I got up this morning, about 430AM cause I couldnt sleep, and Chance got up with me..without a limp He has me going nuts. I will watch him today and see if it comes back, and on what front leg today. I cant imagine what the heck is going on here. |

| I'd have your regular vet xray him tomorrow, both front legs and shoulders. A full tick panel (blood sent to Cornell) runs over $100, you could ask for that if you don't believe the results you got at the emergency vet (I'm assuming they ran the snap test). It could be another tick-bourne disease.

| Thanks for the reply, Yes, they just did the snap test and I will be on the phone bright and early tomorrow morning to my vet. This just is nuts trying to figure out whats going on. I will have them run the better test and see whats up. I need a answer. |

| At his age, you also need to look into osteosarcoma. On and off limping can be a sign of it. Depends how stoic he is about pain. My Chivas would limp on and off after being diagnosed with OS.
