Hurt Leg-Advice please

Daisy was jumping off of the chair thismorning and she caught her leg in the gap of the footrest. She cried, but seemed fine, and after a rest she is limping all over. There is no swelling to the leg, and it does not seem to hurt her when I move it. I called the vet, and they said not to give her anything because they don't want her to feel better and then re-injure it. I dont think it is an injury, I think it just got twisted and sore. They will not tell me what kind of aspirin I can give her or how much. Would you suggest to give it to her and if so, how much?

P.S. She is 65 lbs

It sure sounds like an injury to me, the distinction being how much of an injury. I tend to agree with your vet, a little pain is self-limiting and can help your dog restrict her own activity until it heals. If you see swelling or an obviously painful limping (more than just a slight limp) that goes on for more than a day, I'd take her in for the vet to check. In the meantime, make sure she's not doing any roughhousing, bouncing, or running around.

Nope I would not give her any medication… but REST for a few days.

Painkillers very often make the dog feels “fit for fight”, when they in fact should be allowed to feel a bit pain and unpleasantness to recover natural from minor injuries.

Keep in touch with your vet if things change.
