Found worms in days old poop

Okay, I read some old posts, but don't know if I should still be concerned or not. I was doing poop-patrol last night in the back yard, and one turd broke as I was picking it up, and I noticed a few white heads of worms wiggling around. THis turd was days old, or about a week. Vegas was just at the vets 2 weeks ago, they did a fecal then. He was in 2 months prior to that, did a fecal then. So whats the deal? Does he have worms and these are the eggs he's excreting that are maturing after the poops been sitting there for days? Or is something else going on here, like getting infested from the environment? A dog did live in this place before me, but I've been here for 1.5 years now.

If the poop was sitting in the yard several day, my guess would be maggots (fly larvae) especially since you said white worms with heads.

Ahhhhh....that would make sense. WEll, I don't know if they had heads, that all I saw was the ends of th worms wiggling.

Maggots look like fat, white, wiggly grains of rice.

Welp, I WAS going to make rice with dinner tonight. That thought just flew right out of the window.
