OK, so we had a holistic vet come to speak to our club last night. Some of the things she said were informative, although I think she was being rather inflammatory about some of the kibble vs. raw diet stuff. I do agree with her stance on fewer vaccinations, though, and I think some alternative therapies like acupuncture or TTouch can work.

But she really lost me when she started talking about Reiki. I think I have a pretty open mind, but when she recommended holding the syringe of rabies vaccine in your hand in order to "take the bad out of it" before injecting your dog, I was a bit .

Oh yes, and she recommends animal psychics/communicators.

Take it all with a grain of salt. I like hearing, reading as much as possible, and then coming to my own conclusions about health matters. It's really all a matter of opinion, and she is extremely eccentric one way. I guess someone she's met / worked with in the past made an impact on her.

My opinions and beliefs change, and keep changing. THe more I read, and the more I cross reference my data, I find flaws, or inconsistencies that make me question it all.

My ex is a Reiki practitioner and he doesn't do that kind of stuff. As a matter of fact the gym we used to work at had a psychic in once for an open house and Rob finished a Reiki session in one of the rooms the psychic used some herbs to "purify" the room...she didn't approve at all!

Anyway, when he was studying it I kind of half heartedly read some of his study material and it has nothing to do with "casting out" bad stuff it actually seemed rather esoteric. I don't think anyone knows how and why it works, Rob doesn't. But it does work. Helped me a lot with back and neck pain a few years back. And Cyrus loves having a Reiki session.

Maybe this particular woman was a little flaky, but she also said that when she performed Reiki on herself for a cat scratch, her hand "glowed red".
