Puppy gags and then vomits

I just got my rotti pup last week and she's about 15 weeks old. We have bought some toys for her to chew on and I have caught her gagging and then vomiting up what looks to be saliva. I'm not sure if she's actually gagging though because her tummy starts making this sound and it takes a while for my pup to actually vomit.

It has happened about three times in about a week and a half and each time has got me nervous. It has always happened after she was biting on her toys but it has never happened right after. Once she was chewing on a toy, she then walked around and went poop, then it started. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Is this normal for pups? Are her toys actually causing her to vomit?

Has she had a well puppy vet check since you brought her home? In any case, she may have swallowed something not meant to be swallowed, she may have something hung up in her throat, she may have worms, or any number of other things that could cause this. Your best bet is to take her in to the vet and let them check her out for you.

What are you giving her for chew toys?
What are you feeding her?

I agree with making sure the pup is healthy via vetcheck.

Sometimes, fuzzy toys with the longer plush will tickle their throat and cause this type of gagging but you can usually find the offending fuzzball on the floor after it has been expelled.
Gagging and vomiting can mean anything from Kennel Cough to a foreign object in the throat. I'd let my vet be the judge.

She has a tire/rope toy and also a long stuffed little animal we got from petsmart. We always watch her when she plays with that one because i don't want her eating the fluff from inside the toy. We feed her Puppy Nutro Max.

Good...you really don't know at this point if this is something she came with, something that developed after you brought her home, or what the cause is. A well puppy check should always be done as soon as possible after bringing a dog home. Take a fresh stool sample in with you so it can be checked for worms.

Is she gagging after eating or just after the toys?

Definitely agree with getting puppy to the vet for wellness check up. Have you gotten touch with the breeder to see if any of the other puppies have experienced any of these symptoms. You said something her tmmy making sounds? Is this like her gagging sounds or like hyperactive bowel sounds (borborgymus). Is it always saliva she vomits or does it sometimes have food or fuzz from toy in it? How are the stools? Ugh, could be alot of things..please let vet know everything. I am sure blood work will be needed with possible chest xray and abdominal films. What are you feeding her and how often?? Any who, good luck and keep us updated..hope puppy feels better.

When I went to the Vet Hospital today, Doc had a big Rottie boy on the surgery table...He'd gotten into his mistress' sewing box and had swallowed some thread....Almost killed him.

Would it not make sense to put those toys away?

Yes it would, however these symptoms are not consistent when she plays with these toys.

You said that she only does this after playing with the toys. The fact that she does not do this every time she touches a toy might only mean she is not trying to swallow part of the toy each time. If you remove the toys for a couple of weeks and the gagging/throwing up stops that will tell you something.
