A-Trac Dynamic Brace....

Anyone have experience with this or is Bree to be the Rott.net Guinnea Pig?

http://www.woundwear.com/product3.cfm

My vet thinks she has a partial tear as the knee is stable and tight at this point. He recommended this product and I am going to try it. If there is a chance that Bree doesn't have to completely retire, I will do almost anything. She is already very depressed that she is not working and as it sits now, Utility is out of the question, let alone her favorite game "Chasin' and Bitin' the Badguys". Walking and swimming just don't do it for this little girl.

Oh, and you are probably wondering how it happened...
She was rolling in the grass! How could I have let my dog partake in such a dangerous behavior!

wow! I'll bet you will be part of the initial clinical trial. It is about time that something was designed for dogs. Good luck with this. It appears to be very well designed although you might need a team of engineers to put it on.

Yes, lots of experience with the A-Trac brace! It has been a God-send for some with partial tears...combined with rehab! It takes some getting use to (for the dogs) at first but has (in general...not for all) been very good. Best of luck!

That is excellent to hear as it will be a sizeable investment. Nice to have an endorsement.

Thank you! That is very good news.

Judi, I hope the price includes the engineers! Thank goodness Bree is very tolerant of various harnesses, cool coats, floatation vests, etc...

The way I see it is that if, God forbid, we must go through with surgery, this brace will help her recover. The price of a TPLO is much higher so if we can avoid it, we'll not only be saving money, but all the pain and risk to Bree.
Either way, I think this device is warranted. She is not a bitch that likes taking it easy!

Radiographs and measurements on Monday, then my dear DVM will rush order it online. I'll let you both know how it goes.

Thanks again for the input!

Christy

I'm so sorry to hear about Bree's knee, that really stinks. Aargh, what a bummer!

This is very interesting, I'm so glad you posted this. I had a bad dream last week that Ilsa blew out her knee, and since then, I have been troubled about what I would do if that happened. I just can't see putting a dog with lymphoma through surgery, but I also wouldn't want her stumping around in pain for her last days. Knowing about this option sets my mind at ease.
