i also live in Md my diamond is a HEAVY panting 16 month female rotty. She does worry me too. pants pretty much all day long. while trying to sleep, resting, watching tv( as she loves to do. i try to keep her cool. feed her ice sometimes. My wifey worries so much she actually does not want to let diamond outside. considering it is hot and very humid here in Md. I would rather let her outside for 10-20 mins at a time. If not she will be up my but barking at me. bringing me all her toys. She ALWAYS wants attition. Is that a problem??? she will bother us until she gets her way. barks at the tv quite alot. if we are eating she will do it to just get our attition i think. she will run to tv bark
( loud as 69-GTO, BARK GOES RIGHT THROUGH US) OUCHHH!!! the come right back over to us. she will always be my baby. we just worry about her panting.

Thanks for the support message....I'm the worry-wort! But I only keep Athena "in" when it's humid outside. Tht's when it's the worst. The weather has been fabyulous for the past 10 days or so. Sure it's warm, but there is always a breeze and the minute the sun sets, it cools right off. She still pants a lot; but I'm a lot less worried. She pants when she gets on the bed, there is something about being up there which she LOVES, but the anxioty or stress sets her off panting. She will jump down after 10/15 mins and lay on the floor.

If I let her out for a short period and don't play with her, she just races around all by herself. She is great at self-entertainment. When she is tired or hot, she will go lay in the shade or come to the door to be let in. I still watch closely, but really try to relax about it. She is doing fine, and I have to quit freaking out about everything. Jewel-e
