Mast Cell Cancer????????? Help Please!!!!!!!!!

I have owned my Rott (Cleopatra) for 7 years. Today after mulitple vet visits for a "lump" inbetween her toes, I was told she has Mast cell cancer. It was found by taking a needle aspirate of her lymph gland in the back of her knee, just above the foot with the tumor. Does anyone have any experience with this? Know what I should do? If this is common? Anything really? I have searched the net and found lots of information and definitions but, a real Rott owner with some knowledge would be nice. Thanks Alot!

I lost my Nico to cancer of a different kind. There is an excellent web-site for cancer dogs, it is as follows caninesincrisis.com I don't have much else to offer except my deepest sympathy and prayers. I am sure someone here can shed some light. Keep us posted.

Go to the site mentioned above...lots of good info. Also, do a "search" on this site. This topic has been covered before. Our "notweiler" had two bouts with mast cell cancer. The first time was a stage one...removed via surgery...the mass removed with good margins so no further treatment needed. About two years later, another mass appeared. Surgery was done and chemo suggested. We passed on the chemo and implemented some holistic treatments. She lived to the age of 14 ...the cancer never returned. While the diagnosis IS scary, it doesn't always mean the worse...

Good luck...and keep us posted...
