| upset stomach Last night Amber decided to throw up her dinner. She considerately threw up in her bowl after coming in from outside. Of course I took the bowl away, not realizing that she had about 4 more "splats" to get rid of . So after throwing up she seemd fine, the vomit was basically kibble with a few blades of grass (Amber does enjoy the occasional salad), no blood, nothing alarming. My husband is up before me in the AM & he tends to the dog so I can concentrate on tending to the child when I get up. This morning Amber was in her crate & her kibble was in her bowl, untouched. She eventually came out of her crate when I went into the baby's room & bounced around as her usual self. She deigned to take a cheerio but had no interest in the kibble. When I brought her outside she proceeded to graze incessantly for about 10 minutes. While I won't be surprised to find a "present" waiting for me when I get home after all of that grass I will be concerned if her kibble is still untouched. Can anyone offer me suggestions for a dog with an upset stomach? Boiled rice? Let her graze to her heart's content? Of course if she still refuses to eat we'll go to the vet tomorrow. I did try sniffing the kibble and it smells fine to me but my nose is not that of a rottweiler. Maybe my telling her that she's getting fat has given her a poor body image? Nah... Thanks in advance, Nina

| With mine if, no other symptoms are present, the occasional stomach upset is not too alarming. I generally withhold food for a day or so to let the tummy settle and then give boiled hamburger and rice for a few days....again, as you hae already said if symptoms persist or if something NEW crops up its off to the vet.

| I agree with Jas'smom. Ocasionally mine get upset stomachs I would just watch her give her the hamburger and rice for a day or two You can also give her some scrambled eggs. Just very bland diet. If she shows other symtoms get her to the vet. Hopefully she feels better. Because there is nothing worse then stepping in a big pile of thrown up grass. |

| Thank you both. I'll see what awaits me when I get home. I was more concerned with her not eating her kibble at all but then whenever I get sick after eating something I'm certainly not going to eat it again the next day. We'll do the bland diet tonight. She'll love it.Quote:
