Bloody stool, is it always parvo? Found blood in my puppies stool this morning. She eats and drinks fine. She has all of her energy. I haven't noticed any change in anything except she had blood in her stool. Is it always a sign of something serious?

Re: Bloody stool, is it always parvo? Parvo is large volumes of bloody diarrhea. A small amount of blood is more likely to be parasites (hookworms, coccidia) or even from passing something sharp like a chewed up stick or bone.

Re: Bloody stool, is it always parvo? Thanks MaryDVM. It was a very small amount and only once so far. I appreciate the information. I lost my last puppy to parvo so now I'm pretty parvo paranoid, lol. I got this puppy before I waited the 6mos-1yr period. I did the bleach thing everywhere possible but now I find myself looking for any minute sign. Thanks again

Tia is fine. It turned out to be giardia and toxocara. Vet gave meds said everything should be fine. Thanks.
