Re: Samson might have swallowed a......

I just found out that I have 1/2 a personal day left on the books that I was going to lose on my anniversary date, which is this Saturday so I'm leaving to take him in for xrays. I really hope everything is okay. Wonder how much this is gonna cost..........

Re: Samson might have swallowed a......

Well, he passed it this morning. I took him in for xrays yesterday and could see that it was in there. The vet didn't seem too concerned about whether it had caused any damage. He said that if it had, he would be showing signs-lethargic, vomiting etc. The vet predicted that it would pass in the next 1 or 2 bowel movements and it did, this morning. I am SO relieved that he's okay. I called the vet that I usually take him to yesterday (he's an old country vet) and they were closed, only open today if it rained?!?!? So I explained that this was an emergency and she said that they could only see him if I could have him there in 30 minutes...I live over an hour away. Her response to that was well, there are a lot of vets between here and there. So I said thank you and called another vet's office. The vet said he had never seen anything like this before and we talked for a good while. I will be taking Samson there from now on. Boy do I feel a lot better now. :)

The relief is well worth the price of admission! I'm so glad every thing "came out okay" Seriously, I'm really glad he's okay.

Holy crap - Samson did in fact swallow it!?! Glad to know everything turned out okay in the end. It must have been a scary 24 hours!

The bonus is you found a new vet outta the deal!

My thoughts EXACTLY!

Always better safe than sorry. Hopefully he does not show any signs of distress even though the razor has passed. Keep us posted.

Yeah, I'm gonna keep a close eye on him for the next few days. My boyfriend is catching a cold so he's home with him today.

I never thought a vet would just let somthing like that pass. How dangerous is that.

The vet said that the linings going through the various systems in the body are actually hard to perforate. And it's not a regular size razor blade. It was maybe an inch and a half long and about 1/4 inch wide, if that. Everything seems to be okay though. Thanks for all the well wishes!
