| Canine health Insurance I read somewhere on the net that some insurance companies in the States are refusing to insure certain breeds for hereditary diseases, eg in the case of Rotties they require xrays of parents joints before they will insure your puppy, and when the pup gets to 1 year they require xrays of the pups joints before they give insurance cover? It has not happened in UK as far as I know but it is worrying. Can anyone throw any light on this? UK usually follows what happens in the States. Anne and JoJo

| Re: Canine health Insurance Panda, My rotties are insured by VPI, they clearly state in their policy that genetic disease is not covered. They offer this coverage at additional cost, but I have not investigated what the medical requirements are. Jerry Leads to another question: Is HD always the result of poor genetic makeup or can it be the result of the dogs environment, I have heard some fairly good arguments to the latter |
