Unhappy Microchip question..Help

Winnie got microchipped this afternoon. To my understanding this is supposed to be under the skin. I just felt where they injected her, and felt a glasslike ball. I looked at it with a flashlight and noticed something coming up from the injection site. It looks like a little glass bead, and feels circular and smooth. Could this be the microchip coming out?? It is not dried blood nor a scab. My regular vet was not there today, another vet injected her, one whom I've not seen before. Can this be possible? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Melissa

Re: Microchip question..Help

it is about 1/4 inch long, glass like and thin.sometimes you can feel it under loose skin.
microchips can migrate from location done if not implanted well.and even still, they can move location.
maybe that one was too superficial?
best bet, go back and have them re scan the dog to see where is it.

Thank you. I can see it sticking out from her skin, a little glass like ball. I'll take her back tomorrow and have them take a look at it. I know they probally can't reinsert it, and may have to just do another one. So she will probally have 2 id numbers.

Melissa

P.S...love your location! I'm originally from Miami myself.

Re: Microchip question..Help

yes, have them check it out.if it's out, they will probably do a new chip...one id # not 2
.sometimes i've seen reactions...which are rare, where the body rejects it and it looks like a swollen rash.

Re: Microchip question..Help

My last litter if Shibas the vet did not get one chip implanted deep enough and by the next day it was gone. They chipped her again for free and did it right the second time

Bring cooked chicken or some such meat and that will keep her mind off the rechipping in an already tender spot
