Supplement for HD

Hi all! Wow, it's been a while since I've been here

I do have a question. Last night the vet came to my house and looked Rocky over. His left hip pops when he walks. She had mentioned this stuff (she thought was called Happy paws?) But, it's a supplement that helps with joint wear and gives energy. Does anyone know where I can find this? Or of a supplement that can help with joint wear?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Supplement for HD

My vet recommended the human version of glucosamine too. I got Glycoflex II for dogs which a couple of my friends (and folks here) swear by, but Cyrus absolutely will not take it no matter how I try to "disguise" it.

He takes the human capsules with no problem at all.

I use Schiff glucosamine sulfate 1000 mg.

Re: Supplement for HD

I use Cosequin DS. The Cosequin products are the only ones that I know of for dogs that have been verified in clinical trial testing. As well, their purity is guaranteed. One of the problems with supplements is that they can vary widely and sometimes are not what is listed on the label.

Re: Supplement for HD

The boys here are now on the Cosequin DS, and I no longer hear ben's joints creaking when he gets up after laying down...

i've also started taking Glucosamine supplements and I don't have half the knee pain I used to have, and I also have to start strengthening my knee to make sure my recovery after surgery (which I've needed for 9 months!) is quick and less painful...we'll see about that!!

Re: Supplement for HD

One of the cheapest places to get Cosequin DS (chewables) is Ebay.
