Itching after spay

My girl Roxie has an op yesterday so a patch of her fur has been shaved off. It is driving her mad, really itchy and she just can't settle down. Does anyone know of anything i can safely put on her bare skin to calm it down? thanks

Re: Itching.

When I had Toby neutered, he was already six years old and pretty muscular...when they did the operation someone shaved both inner thigh areas so as the fur was growing back it was itchy and chaffed..I had to slather Baby Oil between his thighs just to walk him because his muscley thighs rubbed together ....he used to stand with his legs slightly apart "waiting" for his oil to soothe him.

Re: Itching.

Aww poor guy! i can just picture him standing waiting to be oiled up! Its not Roxie's thighs, its mostly her tummy, quite far up and her stitches are in the middle. I think her stubble is really itching her, shes bunny hopping about and just can't lie down comfy( she usually lies on her tummy), i feel so sorry for her and want to try to relieve her itching..any ideas?

Re: Itching after spay

I bought a spray called "Petrelief" at the vets. You can also buy it at the pet supply stores. It's a medicated anti-itch spray that also has something in it to help reduce wound biting.
