Belching and Vomitting Ok folks I give up! I need some opinions, advice, suggestions, etc... Our nine month old Rotty has occasional belching and vommitting problems. This seem to happen the most about 1 hour after she is done eating after she has been lying down for awhile. For example, she will stand up from a down position and belch (sometimes accompanied with vomit). I had her in to see a Vet for blood work, x-rays, compazine injection, subcuticular fluids, etc (In the tune of $600.00). Basicaly there were no findings. I have switched her from a BARF diet to Solid Gold Millenia to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!!

Re: Belching and Vomitting Do you feed her once or twice a day? If you feed her one big meal, it may be too much for her to handle. Kibble swells alot during the digestive process. She may be swallowing air also (if she gobbles her food) hence the belching and vomit. I'd first try breaking down her daily food allotment to two or three smaller meals and see if this helps. I'd also limit her water and exercise directly after a meal.

Re: Belching and Vomitting We feed her twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. This was also happening with the BARF diet.

Re: Belching and Vomitting I know this doesn't offer much help, but many Rotties have stomach problems and just puke occasionally. I know its gross, but check to be sure that your pup has not chewed up fabric toys and is evacuating the threads . . . or any pieces of harder chew toy are present. You are feeding a very good diet, and in small enough portions that you are not contributing to the problem. If it is just the occasional stomach upset, it probably is nothing serious.

Just an idea, but is it maybe from eating rawhides? Our rottie pup was making puking noises, etc. throughout the night, but nothing would come out. I did a search on here and someone said that rawhide chews affected their rottie that way. We stopped giving them to our lil' Murphy, and the problem ceased! Good luck!
