| possible eye problem. I went to the vet today because caesar has this 1 eye where it waters and it get's itchy and he rubs it all over the place. I talket the my regular vet and she said that it was just allergys because it only happens in the summer not in the winter. So I went to get some meds for the eye but the regular doc was on holladays so I had to see this other on, by the time we left we were talking about sergery. She said that the problem with his eye is a common rotti problem. The problem is that his lowwer eye lid has curled under and is rubbing on his eye ball, she look but said that he did'nt have a ulcer on the cornia. So she gave me this cream to but on his eye lid to see if it fixes this problem but if it don't then they will have to cut part of the eye lid off so it don't curl in anymore. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of this problem and if it is comman with rotti's? Also how could 2 vets be so far off? thanks for your time and any help you may beable to offer.

| Re: possible eye problem. Do a search for entropian. This is when the lid of the eye rolls inward, and the lashes rub against the eye. I would consider it a very painful, irritating thing. They can tack the eye, and get that lid and lashes out from the eye, but pendant on how long this has been a problem, you may have further corneal damage to deal with....

| Re: possible eye problem. It is called entropion. Yes, surgery will relieve it. If the dog is having corneal irritation from this and you DON'T fix it, it can cause scarring and blindness. This is a disqualifying fault in Rottweilers, and is hereditary. Dogs exhibiting this condition should not be bred. Some vets are just better than others. I'd stick with #2 if I were you...... |

| Re: possible eye problem. My first Rottweiler many years ago had the problem of entropian in both eyes. I had the surgery done as soon as the diagnosis was made. The longer you leave it the greater the chance of vision damage. This condition will never get better by itself. I too would stick with vet number 2. |
