| New Meds We have 4 dogs , 2 labs a great dane and our little rotty Star. Our Great Dane is 10 years old and had to start an arthritis medicine. Soon after she started eating the grass better than our lawn mower and was getting up in the middle of the night to poop. We took her to the vet and he gave her some "doggy" pepcid and said the arthritis meds can do that to a dog. Just wanted to share that since it could've happened to any dog. I didn't know.Beware and ask the vet about side effects of any new medicine. |

| Re: New Meds What kind of arthritis meds? There are quite a few out there. A lot can have side effects that you should be aware of.

| Re: New Meds My Great Dane is on Deramax 100 MG. The vet said after she has a break to start her back on 50MG. Also that there are other arthritis meds that might be more gentle.I just wish they had warned us before "lawn mower" days had begun. They should have those printouts that they hand out with people meds that explain all the side effects. |

| Re: New Meds Just a quick note - my husband is a pharmacist, but whenever the vet prescribes something "doggy", I immediately do a Google search on it. The manufacturer usually will have info on it including side effects. It would be nice if they included those handouts, though...what an idea! |
