Thank you for this information. Knowing this will be very helpful. My sincerest condolances on your boy Storm.
I realize that we will not have the luxury of coming home one day to find that she left us quietly in her sleep. Her quality of life is of paramount importance to us.

Re: The end of lymphoma- I need to know

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I have found that they do tell us, in their own ways, we have to be smart enough to recognize it.

I also realized that once I had made the decision to be with them and help them on their journey to the Bridge, I was also at peace. This is the last, great gift that we can give to them to repay all they have given and taught us.

You're all in my prayers,
Kathy

I did send you a PM and hope that you got it ok?

Thinking of you all.

Re: The end of lymphoma- I need to know

The last couple of days have been really tough. The L'spar injection didn't really reduce the lymph nodes. Except for the 3 egg omelet I fixed her when she got back from the vet on Tuesday, she hasn't eaten. So this morning I called the chemo vet and asked about giving her prednisone. I have some left over from last year when she was taking it. The vet gave the go ahead.
I called a friend of mine who has a key and came to the house and gave her 20 mg pill at 9:30 am. I was working offsite and couldn't get home until 4:30. When I came through the door, she was waiting for me with a stuffie in her mouth and her stub wagging. She ate 2/3 can of salmon and some Nature's Variety dehydrated "puck".
She may or may not have the 2-3 weeks the vet first quoted me, but the pred is making what time she does have, good. We will be going to herding on Friday. Some of her greatest fans will be there to love on her. She even growled at me when I did her nails I have never enjoyed her snarly bitch routine as much as I did then.

twice I've had to make that decision. wishing you strength, peace and that certain eventual thankfulness and grace that comes with understanding how much your life was enriched by the short precious life.

Re: The end of lymphoma- I need to know

Prednisone gets a bad rap, and perhaps justifiably so depending on its use, but I have to say that without it, my dog would not have the quality of life she is presently able to enjoy. There are right times for its use and I'm happy it has given Misty some needed relief.

Francis, you just enjoy the heck out of your snarly bitch, LOL Have fun with her on Friday!
