| Would this cause Diarrhea I've had my puppy for 2 days and her stools have been solid. Today I took her off of canned food and put her on Dry Puppy food, and she also ate a good amount of my cats food by accident. Just awhile ago she had very loooooooose stool. She drinks a lot of water still and is very active. IN fact she's running around chewing everything in her path LOL... Is chaning food types and eating CAT food enough to cause loose stool. It wasnt bloody or anything. |

| Re: Would this cause Diarrhea Yes changing the food can and often does cause loose stools. The cat food is a no no, because the protein content is way to high for dogs. Make sure your pup doesn't get the cat food on a regular basis. A taste now and then won't hurt. When you change foods you need to do it slowly. Add the new a bit at a time to the old, decreasing the old and increasing the new over a week or so.

| Re: Would this cause Diarrhea If the diarrhea is not watery explosions, if it does not have a really foul odor, and as long as your puppy is bright and happy and playful with a good appetite, probably no concern. Diarrhea in puppies can degenerate into other different problems such as dehydration, and is a symptom of certain serious diseases such as parvo, however. If it continues, or you see ANY changes in her behavior, see your vet immediately. |

| Re: Would this cause Diarrhea Yesterday she still had a little runny stools. So I decided to stick with the puppy food the breeder gave us ( Iam's Large Breed for Puppies) and it cleared up. She also seems to look a little less bloated. I'll keep her on this food for a while and then switch to a better brand, unles IAMS should be ok for her the rest of her life? |
