| Re: neutered! A cold pack applied to the area several times a day for 5 minutes helps a lot with the swelling and inflammation. An E-collar is probably your best bet if he's messing with the stitches. Rocco loved the cold packs and didn't bother the stitches so I didn't have to worry about that. |

| Re: neutered! I think it was Judi W that mentioned that you can make a collar out of a tighly rolled towel, perhaps with a peice of cardboard in it, with duct tape or packing tape holding it all together; that will limit your dog's flexibility and keep him from licking out his stitches. It sounded like a better option that the traditional cone to me. If you're concerned about inflammation, and the vet is okay with it, you may want to consider aspirin, it really seems to work as well with dogs as with us. | Re: neutered! If there might be any blood leakage, no asprin. Cold packs do help the swelling. This sight has a pict. of a Bite Not collar which you can easily make yourself. It is like a cervical collar that keeps the dog from being able to twist its neck around to get at its back end. http://www.vetamerica.com/bnc4.html |
