Harley got his wheelchair

Harley my one year old Rott with cancer got his wheels last week. He has been doing well in it and it seems to be real good for his back legs. Today we took him to the local farmers market and he walked up and down each row. It is really funny to see his rear view but am so glad he is able to get around a bit. If anyone else has ever had one could you let me know sometimes he does not look like he is it right. It seems the tighter it is around him the better control he has but I am afraid if it is to tight it will hurt him

Re: Harley got his wheelchair

What a brave boy. Does he have any use of his hind legs at all? Awesome pictures...I bet he gets a lot of attention!

Re: Harley got his wheelchair

That cart looks much more stable than the one I saw where the dog kept falling over. You can't tell by your photos, but I did see on the Doggon' Wheels website that the wheels are set on an angle, which I'm sure helps prevent tipping. I can't really tell......are his hind legs supported by straps?

Re: Harley got his wheelchair

Yes he does have some use now of his legs but I guess the tumor is still blocking the spine and he still knuckles and he does not have the strength in the legs now as it has been almost 2 months since the surgery. He is improving and that is the good thing.

Re: Harley got his wheelchair

Hi Harley's Mom,
We used a Doggon Wheels chair for Silver (recently departed) our nearly 13 year old Rottie...she was my Assistance Dog for 12 years...developed bone cancer after a TPLO. Anyway, Lori with Doggon Wheels (it looked like Harley's chair was a DW chair?) is wonderful in helping you to fit the chair...you just send her pictures from all angles and she is able to give adjustment advice. Best wishes,
Andria, ^Silver^ & Joy

Yes they are kindof on an angle and yes they are supported by straps but now the doctor says that is not good he needs to bear weight on them but they are so weak I am afraid he is going to break a leg.
