Wink Another consideration for hot spots

In reading Animal Wellness magazine recently, it was suggested to try the homeopathic remedy Hepar sulph for curing hotspots. Vik has a hot spot that appeared after her last swimming event. I tried my usual tricks for a week and it wouldn't clear up. Put her on hepar sulph (don't know the strength), 5 balls twice per day..........and it's cleared up almost instantly.

Here's some info I found while searching:

Re: Another consideration for hot spots

Our FB gets hot spots all the time and Listerine is hit or miss anymore with how fast they clear up if at all. I will have to get some of this stuff and give it a whirl next time around! Thanks AGAIN Gret!

You might need to clip the hair back so you can medicate it properly...

Re: Another consideration for hot spots

A hot spot is an oozing wound which suddenly appears. They are often thought to be either a) infection of a skin scratch (as Judi mentioned) or b) an allergic reaction to something.

Bort got them once as a puppy after his breeders put some nasty chemical on their backyard. Froli got them once after my next door neighbors had their lawn "Chem-lawned" (UGh!!!!) and Vikka got them after swimming in the pond ........... there are rumors that water/wet fur causes hot spots but I don't buy that. With Vikka, as roughly as she and Banja play, I suspect it's a skin lac gone bad.
