Foot sores

Bastian tore 3 of his paws yesterday herding (his first day at it). He ignored it while we were there, but actually ripped the flap off the front one before we even got home. I have seen suggestions for Vicks, but is there anything else around the house that might work? I did the sour apple this morning, but I don't want to spray it in the sore and he'll lick around it. I have tiger balm, Aveda Blue oil (ok, the good stuff, but it will help him heal I'll do it) . We could wrap it, but when we're sleeping (or trying to) he'll try to eat it and I'd rather not deal with that issue. Thoughts??

THis is not the first time he's torn a pad, so I've got tuf foot coming, I just need to know how to get him to leave it to heal. We're already foregoing the walk, which means no sleep for me tonight.

Re: Foot sores

Max tore one of his pads up pretty good a few months ago. Bad enough that he wouldn't walk on it. He was pretty good about leaving it alone when I told him to, but it still took about a week to heal over, and about 2 weeks to heal completely. Our vet didn't recommend wrapping it because of infection, but he did recommended using neosporin or bag balm.
